How to export your data from Loopia’s services (EU Data Act)

This guide describes how you as a customer can retrieve and export the data that belongs to you from the products and services you have purchased from Loopia, in accordance with the EU Data Act (Regulation (EU) 2023/2854). For each data category, we list what data is included and how to access it, with links to our detailed guides.

If no specific export function is available for certain information, you can always export it by copying it from the interface or by using your browser’s print to PDF function.

Contents

1. Web files and website

Data included: all files on your web hosting account – HTML, images, scripts, themes, plugins and uploaded files.

How to export: connect to your account via FTP and download your files, or use SSH if your platform supports it. See our guides FTP clients and SSH.

2. Databases

Data included: the contents of your MariaDB/MySQL databases (e.g. WordPress content, store data) and MSSQL databases on the Windows platform.

How to export: export the database as an SQL file via phpMyAdmin in the Loopia Customer Zone. Follow the guide Export a MySQL database.

3. Email

Data included: email messages, folders and contacts in your email accounts with Loopia.

How to export: connect an email client via IMAP and copy your messages to your computer or to another provider – see Email clients for setup guides. In Outlook you can also save your email locally as a PST file. Server settings are listed under Email servers.

4. Domains and DNS

Data included: your domain names, DNS zones and DNS records (A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT and more).

How to export: download the entire DNS zone as a zone file from the Loopia Customer Zone – see the guide Download zone file. You can also view and copy individual records directly in the DNS editor in the Customer Zone. If you want to transfer a domain to another provider, request an authorization code in the Customer Zone.

5. Loopia Sitebuilder

Data included: the website you have built in Loopia Sitebuilder – design, page structure and content – is part of the Sitebuilder service and is stored in the tool for as long as the service is active. The website cannot be exported via FTP or moved to another platform.

How to save your content: you can copy your texts from the editor, and you still have the originals of your own uploaded images on your computer. If you want to save how your pages look, use your browser’s print to PDF function. Please note: when the Sitebuilder service is cancelled, the website and its content are deleted – save anything you want to keep before cancelling the service.

6. Microsoft 365

Data included: email, calendar and contacts in Exchange Online, files in OneDrive and SharePoint, and user and license details in your Microsoft 365 service.

How to export: the easiest way to export email, calendar and contacts is via Outlook, saved as a PST file. Files in OneDrive and SharePoint can be downloaded directly from each service, either via the web interface or by syncing them to your computer. User and license details are shown in the Microsoft 365 admin center, where you can, among other things, export the user list as a CSV file.

7. Account details and invoices

Data included: your contact and account details, active services and subscriptions, invoices and payment history.

How to export: everything is shown in the Loopia Customer Zone. Invoices and receipts can be downloaded as PDF files – see Invoice routines. Export other details by copying and pasting them, or by using your browser’s print to PDF function.

8. SSL/TLS certificates

Data included: certificate details for your domains, validity period and certificate type.

How to export: certificate information is shown in the Loopia Customer Zone. Certificates that you have purchased and uploaded yourself can be exported together with your private key, provided you saved it when ordering. Let’s Encrypt certificates are issued automatically and do not move with you – a new one is issued free of charge by your new provider.

9. VPS

Data included: all content on your virtual server – files, databases, configuration and logs.

How to export: you have full root access to your LoopiaVPS and can copy your data at any time via SSH/SFTP or with any backup tool of your choice, e.g. rsync.

10. Export via LoopiaAPI

Data included: machine-readable access to, among other things, domain lists, DNS records, subdomains and invoices.

How to export: LoopiaAPI is an XML-RPC API that lets you retrieve your data programmatically – useful if you want to automate an export. Start with LoopiaAPI and Loopia API – Before you begin.
