How do you add your email address to Apple Mail on macOS 27 Golden Gate?

You add your Loopia email address to Apple Mail on macOS 27 Golden Gate from the menu Mail > Add Account: enter your email address, continue and follow the instructions on screen. If Mail can’t find the settings automatically, you fill in the server and port details manually – you’ll find them further down in this article.

Which macOS version you have

macOS 27 Golden Gate was released on 14 September 2026. Last checked: 2026-09-30. The steps for adding a Loopia email address are the same on Tahoe 26, Sequoia 15 and Sonoma 14; for Big Sur, Monterey and Ventura, follow How do you set up Loopia email in Apple Mail on macOS Big Sur?

How to see your macOS version

  1. Click the Apple logo in the top-left corner of the screen.
  2. Choose About This Mac.
  3. The window shows the name and version number, for example macOS Golden Gate 27.

Before you begin

To add your email to Apple Mail you need your full email address and its password. If you haven’t created an email address yet, do that first in the Loopia Customer Zone – see How do you create an email address in the Loopia Customer Zone?

Add your email account in Apple Mail

  1. Open Mail. If you’re adding your first account, the setup assistant opens automatically – otherwise choose Mail > Add Account in the menu bar.
  2. Enter the email address you created in your Loopia Customer Zone and continue.
  3. If you instead see a list of account types (iCloud, Google, Microsoft Exchange and similar), choose the option for a regular email account with another provider – it’s normally at the bottom of the list and called Other Mail Account. Then continue.
  4. Fill in your name, your full email address and your password, and sign in.
  5. Mail tries to find the settings automatically. If you get a message that the account name or password couldn’t be verified, fill in the server details manually as described in the next section.
  6. Choose IMAP as the account type, check the incoming and outgoing server fields, and sign in.
  7. Choose which apps to use the account with (at least Mail) and finish the assistant. Your email now starts downloading.

Server settings

If you need to fill in the details manually, use the following settings. Your username is always your full email address. Last checked: 2026-09-30.

Incoming email (IMAP)

  • Server: mailcluster.loopia.se
  • Port: 993 with SSL/TLS
  • Username: your full email address

If you’d rather use POP3 (to download your email to a single computer), the server is the same and the port is 995 with SSL/TLS. For most people we recommend IMAP, because your email then stays on the server and syncs between several devices.

Outgoing email (SMTP)

  • Server: mailcluster.loopia.se
  • Port: 587 with STARTTLS (alternatively port 465 with SSL/TLS)
  • Authentication: Password, with the same username and password as for incoming email

All Loopia email server settings are also listed in Which server settings do you use for Loopia email (IMAP, POP3, SMTP)?

Change settings on an account you’ve already added

If you’ve already added the account and need to adjust the server or port, go to Mail > Settings > Accounts, select your account and choose Server Settings.

Check that everything works

Send a test message to yourself and check that it is both sent and received. Spam is sorted automatically into the “SPAM” folder, which you see in Mail when you use IMAP.

If you can’t send email, open Server Settings for your account as described above and check that the outgoing server uses port 587 with STARTTLS and password authentication. If the port changes after an Apple update, untick Automatically manage connection settings for outgoing email and set it again.
