Restore access to admin user and renew GDAP connection

This guide shows how to restore access to your Microsoft 365 admin user and renew the GDAP (Granular Delegated Admin Privileges) connection, so that Loopia can once again manage your Microsoft 365 tenant from the Loopia Customer Zone. If you want background on what GDAP is, see our GDAP explainer.

The process has three stages: find your tenant identifier in the Customer Zone, reset the admin password directly with Microsoft, and then approve the new GDAP delegation. Allow around 15 minutes and have access to the alternate email address and phone number registered for the admin user.

Step 1: Find your Microsoft 365 tenant identifier

  1. Log in to the Loopia Customer Zone at https://www.loopia.se/loggain/.
  2. Note your tenant identifier: scroll down to the Services section and locate Microsoft 365. Note the identifier shown on the right-hand side – it looks like loopia1234567. Write it down, you will need it in the next step.

Step 2: Reset the admin password

You now reset the password for the built-in admin user directly with Microsoft.

  1. Open the Microsoft sign-in page by clicking Microsoft 365 in the service list in the Customer Zone and selecting Sign in to Microsoft 365.
  2. Enter the admin email address in the format admin@loopia1234567.onmicrosoft.com, replacing loopia1234567 with the identifier you noted in Step 1. Click Next.
  3. Start the password recovery flow by clicking Forgot my password, then enter the CAPTCHA characters shown in the image and click Next.
  4. Verification 1 – alternate email:
    • Select Email my alternate email.
    • Microsoft shows a hint about which alternate email address it will send the code to. Click Email.
    • Open the inbox for that alternate address, copy the verification code, paste it into the field and click Next.
  5. Verification 2 – phone:
    • Select Call my office phone.
    • Microsoft shows a hint about which phone number it will call. Click Call.
    • Answer the call, note the spoken verification code, enter it into the field and click Next.
  6. Set the new password: create a new password, confirm it and finish the recovery flow. Store the admin email address and password in a safe place – you will need them again in Step 3 and for any future GDAP renewals.

Step 3: Renew the GDAP connection

  1. Return to the Loopia Customer Zone at https://www.loopia.se/loggain/ and click Microsoft 365 under Services.
  2. Approve the admin permissions request: in the dialog headed Admin permissions pending approval, click Confirm.
  3. Finish the approval with Microsoft: you are redirected to the Microsoft sign-in page. Log in with the admin user and the new password from Step 2, then follow the on-screen prompts to accept the new GDAP delegation request from Loopia.

Once the GDAP connection has been renewed, Loopia can again administer your Microsoft 365 tenant on your behalf and you can manage licences and users from the Customer Zone as usual.
