Create an e-mail account

You create e-mail accounts in Loopia Customer zone by choosing “Create an e-mail address“. The first option on the next page, “Create an e-mail address“, will create a normal account which you can send and receive with.
This is the option you need to choose if you want to be able to add the account to an email client such as Outlook, Mac Mail, iPhone/iPad etc.

Create an email alias to forward emails to for example Gmail or Hotmail” will only be an e-mail address that forwards incoming email to an existing e-mail, such as a Gmail or Hotmail as the name suggests. This means that the Gmail/Hotmail or any other e-mail you choose as recipient to the incoming emails will show as sender when you reply.

POP3

If you wish to read your e-mails with an e-mail program you may use POP3, which is version 3 of the Post Office Protocol. POP3 is today the most common and most effective communication protocol used to retrieve e-mail to a local e-mail client.

When reading e-mails using POP3, the messages are downloaded from our server for permanent storage on your computer. This means that all e-mail will be deleted from the e-mail server as soon as it has been downloaded. The e-mails therefore become inaccessible from other computers that access the same mailbox.

POP3 requires login by the user, usually by entering the POP3 server name (mailcluster.loopia.se), username (your e-mail address) and your password.

IMAP

If you wish to read your e-mails with an e-mail program you may use IMAP, which stands for Internet Message Access Protocol. IMAP is a protocol used to dynamically read e-mails and view e-mail folders stored on a central server. This means, unlike POP3, that you don´t download your e-mails for permanent storage on your computer, instead the e-mails are read directly from our server.

IMAP also requires login by the user, usually by entering the IMAP server name (mailcluster.loopia.se), username (your e-mail address) and your password. This allows you to dynamically read your e-mail and view your e-mail folders that are stored on our server.
