FAQ SE Direkt move to Loopia

General questions

What does the transition mean for me as a customer?

You do not have to do anything related to the transition. The transition does not affect your domain name, it does not cost you anything and it will be implemented by Loopia and .SE Direkt together. Your domain name will continue to function as before but will be moved to Loopia which will then become your new domain registrar.

The transition will begin on February 12 and is carried out on an ongoing basis for each customer. It is expected to be completed within a few days, with a few exceptions.

When the transition is completed, you will manage your domain name through Loopia Customer zone and future invoices will have Loopia as sender. You will receive user credentials for Loopia Customer zone as soon as the transition is completed.

After the transition, you will be able to take part of Loopia’s product range, including support that is open during daytime, evenings and weekends as well as secure login via BankID to Loopia Customer Zone for Swedish customers. Loopia can also offer automatic renewal of domains, which means that you do not have to risk losing a domain name in connection with renewals.

Your current contractual periods for your domain names will continue to apply even after the move to Loopia. If you want to, you can already now add Loopia as a new provider to your company or organization so that payments for future renewals of your domain name will be easier to perform. More information about Loopia as a provider can be found at the bottom of this FAQ.

NOTE! The invoices that .SE Direkt send out on February 4 should be paid as usual to .SE Direkt. If you have any invoices from .SE Direct that have passed its expiration date, they should be paid no later than February 9 to avoid that the domain name expires during the transition to Loopia. The transition begins on February 12 and is expected to be completed within a few days, with a few exceptions.

What will I be offered now compared to before?

Along with the transition, you will get access to additional services and features that were not previously offered by .SE Direkt, for example:

  • Manage and register different top-level domains (eg .SE, .NU, .COM, .EU) in one single place (Loopia Customer zone).
  • Smooth and secure login via BankID for Swedish customers.
  • Easy to add popular services like email and website.
  • Ability to use automatic renewals to avoid losing domain names.
  • Ability to use a domain monitoring tool to see if anyone is infringing on your brand.
  • Enable an SSL certificate for encrypted traffic.
  • A newsletter tool for email marketing.
  • Support on evenings and weekends.
  • Automatic card payments.

If you need more information, please contact Loopia by phone +46(0)21-12 82 22 or email support@loopia.com.

What if I don’t want to move to Loopia? What options do I have and how does it work?

All .SE domain holders are always free to choose their own registrar. If you after the transition find out that you are not satisfied with your new registrar, you are free to change provider at any time. All you have to do is contact Loopia or login to Loopia Customer zone and get an authorization code. Then give this code to the registrar you wish to move to.

Can I stay as a customer of .SE Direkt?

No, you cannot continue being a customer of .SE Direkt. All customers who have one or more active domain names with .SE Direkt at the time of the sale, February 12, will be transferred to and become customers of Loopia.

What if I have already paid for several years to come?

If you have already paid for several years to come, your existing periods will continue to apply also at Loopia. However, in case of new additional services and features, a difference cost may have to be paid.

How do I access my old invoices? What will happen to the invoices during the transition?

When .SE Direkt’s customers have been moved to Loopia, you should turn to Loopia to access your old invoices. Before February 12, this can be done in DomainManager.

Should I pay the payment notice from .SE Direkt?

If you have payment notices from .SE Direkt that have passed the payment date, they should be paid by February 9th to avoid domain names expiring during the moving period. Admin and technical questions

Will my previous additional services follow?

(eg possibility of multi-year payments, automatic address change, sms reminders and email notifications)

No, none of your current additional services at .SE Direkt will come with you to Loopia. However, everyone who moves to Loopia will have the possibility to use multi-year payments and SMS reminders and email notifications as standard. You do not need to do anything to get access to these services after the transition.

Loopia does not offer automatic address change, which means that you are responsible for updating your address when you change it.

How does it work if I want to register a new domain during this two-week period?

Until 08:00 on February 12, all services at .SE Direkt will work as usual and you will be able to order new domain names and renew your current domain name as usual until then. From 08:00 on February 12 until the transition is complete, you will not be able to access your account and can therefore not log in to register new domains. The majority of all customers will be moved within the next few days, with a few exceptions.

What happens to ongoing transfers?

It is possible to make transfers as usual until February 5. After that date, we strongly recommend that you wait with starting new transfers until after the transition that starts on February 12. If you know that the transfer might take some time, we advise you to wait until after the transition is completed.

The majority of all customers will be moved within the next few days, apart from a few exceptions. After the move, you will perform transfers through Loopia.

What if I have web hosting and/or other services at another provider?

This is not affected by the move to a new registrar.

Does this mean some kind of lock-in? Can I change registrar at any time?

No, it does not mean some kind of lock-in. Your domain names will not be locked and you can change registrar at any time before or after the transition. During the actual transition period you will not be able to change registrar since the domain names are moved from .SE Direct to Loopia. However, it is possible to move your domain before or after the transition period.
