Email messages per hour

Loopia’s email service is designed for regular email correspondence and applies a sending limit of 200 messages per hour per email address. This article explains the limit, why it exists, and what happens if you exceed it.

Sending limit per email address

Each email address hosted with Loopia can send up to 200 messages per hour. This limit applies to outgoing mail sent via Loopia’s SMTP servers, whether you use the webmail or an email client (Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird, etc.).

Why the limit exists

The limit protects you and other customers from:

  • Unauthorised use of your account for spam (junk mail) if your password is compromised.
  • Accidental mass mailings caused by misconfigured scripts or mail clients.
  • Reputation damage to Loopia’s mail servers, which could affect deliverability for everyone.

What happens if you exceed the limit

If you send more than 200 messages in an hour from a single address, additional messages may not be delivered to the recipients. You may also receive a bounce message or an error from your email client.

Sending to many recipients

If you need to send a newsletter or announcement to a large list, we recommend using a dedicated email marketing service rather than your standard email account. This improves deliverability and keeps your regular mailbox within the sending limit.
