Email account management

This guide walks through how the user or account administrator can make changes to an email address.

To make these changes to an individual email address, log in with the e-mail address and associated password at https://www.loopia.com/mailadmin/

You then get to the administration panel for the individual address. To access all email addresses in a web hosting account, you instead log in with your usual login credentials to the customer zone in the same form. Then you just click on the email address you want to edit.

What features does this administration panel contain?

Password change

By clicking on the “Edit” button, you can enter a new password for the email account. Please see our rules for passwords below:

What are the requirements for my password?

If you want to enter your own password for Loopia Customer Zone, it must meet several criteria. This is because a weak password means a security risk.

The criteria that a password must meet are the following:

  • It must be at least eight (8) characters long.
  • It must contain at least five (5) unique characters.
  • It must not contain too many repetitions of any character.
  • It can not contain any types of gabs (such as spaces).
  • It can not be a US national insurance number.
  • It must not be a common word.
  • It should not be vulnerable to glossary attacks (for example, it should not contain a word backwards, words in small or upper case, plural words, etc.).

Out of office message / Auto reply:

Do you want those who email you to receive an auto-reply/out-of-office message? Then click on the “Auto response” button.

Then select “Active auto-reply” and enter a subject and a short message that each sender will receive in return. Note that there is a check that allows a sender to receive only one auto-reply per day.

Antispam:

Unfortunately, a large part of the email sent today is junk mail (so-called spam). To avoid receiving these in your inbox, you should activate our spam filter for your email address. This is switched on by default in newly created accounts, but you can adjust your filter further under the “Antispam” option if you so wish. By default, we have set a fairly hard limit for what should be filtered out as spam. Filtered means that messages are sorted directly into the “Spam” folder that is in every email account.

Every email that reaches our servers must pass our spam filter which analyzes and scores the message. Different parts of the message receive different points according to this list. If the message’s total score exceeds the set limit, it is considered a spam message and is then sorted into that folder directly.

We have set a value of 6 points as a standard limit, but you as a customer can tighten it a little more or a little less. You can then drag the bar yourself to the point limit you wish to be the maximum for messages. To see which limit value is set for your address, you can put your pointer on the question mark on the right.

Does someone’s messages always get stuck in the filter, or do messages from a sender you’d rather not read slip through?

Then you can blacklist or whitelist their email addresses here, such as “spam@example.com” or part of an email address such as “@example.com”. Then click “Add”. You can always see and remove current extra rules for black/whitelisted addresses just below this box.

Antivirus:

We at Loopia have an effective antivirus filter that scans all incoming messages for virus-infected files. For your safety, you should always have this filter on.
