How do I move my domain to Loopia?

This guide explains how to transfer your domain name to Loopia and become our customer as the registrar (the company responsible for renewing and managing your domain). Moving a domain involves two steps: adding the domain to your Loopia account and starting a transfer so we take over the administrative responsibility.

Add your domain to a Loopia account

Before we can take over the management of your domain, you need to add the domain to an account with us. You can do this in the Loopia Customer Zone under the heading “What would you like to do?” by choosing Buy or add domain name > Add domain name. If you do not yet have a Loopia account, you can easily create one here.

Redelegation (point your domain to Loopia’s name servers)

A redelegation means changing the name servers (DNS servers) listed for your domain so that they point to Loopia. To get started with us as soon as possible, contact your current provider and ask them to redelegate the domain to our name servers below. A redelegation can take up to 48 hours to propagate, but it usually completes within a day.

  • ns1.loopia.se — 93.188.0.20
  • ns2.loopia.se — 93.188.0.21

Transfer (move the registrar responsibility to Loopia)

A transfer (redelegation to another registrar) means that Loopia takes over the administrative and technical responsibility for the domain, including future renewals. A transfer normally takes 7–18 days to complete (except for .se domains, which transfer immediately). Once it is finished, Loopia becomes the registrar for your domain. You can check who the current registrar is by visiting whois.loopia.com.

You will find the prices for transferring a domain to us on our website.
