This FAQ answers the most common questions about the move of .SE Direkt customers to Loopia, covering what changes for you, payments, terms and GDPR, and admin and technical questions.
General questions
What does the transition mean for me as a customer?
You do not need to do anything in connection with the transition. It does not affect your domain name, it does not cost you anything, and it is carried out jointly by Loopia and .SE Direkt. Your domain will continue to work as before but will be moved to Loopia, who will become your new domain registrar.
The transition begins on 12 February and is carried out gradually for each customer. It is expected to be completed within a few days, with a small number of exceptions.
Once the transition is complete, you will manage your domain name through the Loopia Customer Zone, and future invoices will be sent by Loopia. You will receive your login details for the Loopia Customer Zone as soon as the transition is complete.
After the transition you gain access to Loopia’s full product range, including support open during the daytime, evenings and weekends, and secure login via BankID to the Loopia Customer Zone for Swedish customers. Loopia also offers automatic renewal of domains, so you do not risk losing a domain name at renewal time.
Your current contract periods for your domain names continue to apply after the move to Loopia. If you wish, you can already add Loopia as a new supplier to your company or organisation so that future renewal payments are easier to process. Loopia’s supplier details are listed at the bottom of this FAQ.
Please note: The invoices that .SE Direkt send out on 4 February should be paid as usual to .SE Direkt. If you have any overdue invoices from .SE Direkt, they should be paid no later than 9 February to ensure your domain name does not expire during the transition. The transition begins on 12 February and is expected to be completed within a few days, with a small number of exceptions.
What will I be offered now compared with before?
Along with the transition you gain access to additional services and features that were not previously offered by .SE Direkt, including:
- Manage and register a wide range of top-level domains (e.g. .SE, .NU, .COM, .EU) in one place (the Loopia Customer Zone).
- Smooth and secure login via BankID for Swedish customers.
- Easily add popular services such as email and web hosting.
- Automatic renewals to avoid losing domain names.
- A domain monitoring tool to see if anyone is infringing on your brand.
- SSL certificates for encrypted traffic.
- A newsletter tool for email marketing.
- Support on evenings and weekends.
- Automatic card payments.
If you need more information, please contact Loopia by phone on +46(0)21-12 82 22 or by email at support@loopia.com.
What if I don’t want to move to Loopia? What options do I have and how does it work?
All .SE domain holders are free to choose their own registrar at any time. If, after the transition, you find that you are not satisfied with your new registrar, you can change provider whenever you like. Simply contact Loopia or log in to the Loopia Customer Zone to obtain an authorisation code, then give this code to the registrar you wish to move to.
Can I stay as a customer of .SE Direkt?
No. All customers with one or more active domain names at .SE Direkt at the time of the sale (12 February) will be transferred to Loopia.
Payments
What if I have already paid for several years in advance?
If you have already paid for several years in advance, your existing periods continue to apply at Loopia. However, if you add new services or features, you may need to pay a difference in cost.
How do I access my old invoices, and what happens to invoices during the transition?
Once .SE Direkt’s customers have been moved to Loopia, contact Loopia to access your old invoices. Before 12 February, you can access them in DomainManager.
Should I pay the payment notice from .SE Direkt?
Yes. The payment notice that .SE Direkt sends out on 4 February should be paid as usual. If you have payment notices from .SE Direkt that are past due, they should be paid by 9 February to prevent domain names from expiring during the moving period. The moving period begins on 12 February and is expected to be completed within a few days, with a small number of exceptions.
Can I add Loopia as a new supplier right away?
Yes. You can add Loopia as a new supplier to your company or organisation so that future renewals of your domain name will be easier to process.

Terms and GDPR
Do I automatically accept Loopia’s terms as part of the transition?
Loopia’s terms come into force 30 days after you have been informed of the transition by email and via .SE Direkt’s website. If you choose not to accept the terms, you must contact Loopia and notify them. If you do not accept Loopia’s terms, your services will be shut down when Loopia’s terms come into force.
.SE Direkt’s terms apply to you until Loopia’s terms come into force on 14 March. You will never be without terms; Loopia takes over the terms that apply to you at the moment of the transition.
Where can I read Loopia’s terms?
You can find Loopia’s terms at https://www.loopia.com/pdf/loopia_general_terms.pdf.
How is my information stored, and what history will Loopia have access to?
Your information, and that of other customers, is stored in a secure database and is only handled by staff at the Swedish Internet Foundation and Loopia during the transition. All transfers are encrypted and secure.
Loopia receives .SE Direkt’s customer information at the time of the transition and does not gain access to any history about you or other customers.
If I cancel my account at .SE Direkt or change registrar before the transition, will Loopia still receive my information?
No. Loopia only receives information for customers who have one or more active domain names at .SE Direkt when the transition takes place. No history is included.
Admin and technical questions
Will my previous additional services come with me?
This refers to services such as multi-year payments, automatic address change, SMS reminders and email notifications.
No, none of your current additional services at .SE Direkt are transferred to Loopia. However, everyone who moves to Loopia can use multi-year payments, SMS reminders and email notifications as standard. You do not need to do anything to access these services after the transition.
Loopia does not offer automatic address change, which means you are responsible for updating your address whenever it changes.
How does it work if I want to register a new domain during this two-week period?
Until 08:00 on 12 February, all services at .SE Direkt work as usual, so you can order new domain names and renew existing ones up to that time. From 08:00 on 12 February until the transition is complete, you will not be able to access your account and cannot register new domains. Most customers will be moved within a few days, with a small number of exceptions.
What happens to ongoing transfers?
You can carry out transfers as usual until 5 February. After that date, we strongly recommend waiting until after the transition (which starts on 12 February) before starting new transfers. If you know a transfer might take some time, please wait until the transition is complete.
Most customers will be moved within a few days, with a small number of exceptions. After the move, you will perform transfers through Loopia.
What if I have web hosting or other services with another provider?
Those are not affected by the move to a new registrar.
Does this mean any kind of lock-in? Can I change registrar at any time?
No, there is no lock-in. Your domain names are not locked and you can change registrar at any time before or after the transition. During the transition period itself you cannot change registrar, because the domain names are being moved from .SE Direkt to Loopia. You can move your domain before or after the transition period.
What if I discover my domain has been deactivated? How do I avoid losing it, and who can reactivate it?
If you have received your login details for the Loopia Customer Zone, you can reactivate your domain by following this guide: https://support.loopia.com/wiki/reactivating-an-expired-domain/
If you do not yet have access to the Loopia Customer Zone, please contact Loopia’s support: https://www.loopia.com/support/
If I have a separate invoice recipient for my domain, will anything change?
The owner information for each account will be included in the transition. If you have a separate billing address for your domain, you will need to re-enter it in the Loopia Customer Zone under Account Settings.
If you want to add a separate invoice recipient, please contact Loopia Support. Your contact information at .SE Direkt will accompany you to Loopia.
What happens to DomainManager?
As .SE Direkt has been sold, the DomainManager control panel will be shut down. You will instead log in to the Loopia Customer Zone — read more here.
When will DomainManager be shut down?
DomainManager at .SE Direkt will be shut down at 08:00 on 12 February, before .SE Direkt’s customers are moved.
