You add captions to images in the Gallery block in Loopia Sitebuilder by clicking the image, opening Media settings and filling in Image title and Description. The caption is shown when a visitor opens the image in full-screen view on your published site.
A caption is a few lines of text that explains or expands on the content of a photo.
Before you start
Captions are only available if the image’s click action is set to View full-size image (turned on by default). If you change the click action, you can only set the image’s alt text.
Alt text (alternative text) – also called the “alt attribute”, “alt description” or “alt tag” – also describes the image’s appearance and purpose. It’s indexed by search engines and read aloud by screen readers.
How to add a title, alt text and description
- Once you’ve added a Gallery block to your page, click the image you want to edit to activate its control panel, then click the Media settings icon.
- In the Media settings menu, type your text in the Image title field.
- To use the image title as the alt tag, keep Same title for Alt tag ticked. To add a different tag, untick it so the Alt title field becomes active, then type the new alt tag.
- Type the description in the Description field (leave it empty if you don’t need one).
- Click Save to confirm.
The title and description appear in full-screen view on the published site. The alt tag is only visible to search engine crawlers (and screen readers).
