How do you customise the footer (Footer block) in Loopia Sitebuilder – layout, navigation and logo?

The Footer block at the bottom of every page in Loopia Sitebuilder can show useful information for your visitors, including extra navigation, your logo, contact details and copyright information. Every template includes a Footer block by default, so you don’t need to add one unless you’ve deleted it.

If you’ve deleted the Footer block, click the (+) button, choose Footer in the Block library (it’s at the very bottom of the list) and click the footer layout you want. You can also use the Undo button in the top bar to undo the deletion.

Changing the footer layout works slightly differently from other blocks – the default footer has no Switch block layout button in Block settings.

  1. Choose where to insert the Footer block and click the (+) button.
  2. In the Block library, go to the Footer section and click the layout you like.
  3. Since you can only have one footer per page, a Block replacement message appears. Click Replace.

The old footer is replaced by the new layout. Alternatively, delete your default footer and add a new one to avoid the Block replacement message.

The new footer has a Switch block layout button under Block settings → Layout, so next time you can switch layout without deleting it.

Note: the footer layout can be page-specific, but its content is global.

Hover over the block and click the Block settings icon. The menu has two tabs:

  • Layout: choose which elements appear in the footer (in some templates most are unticked by default). Tick or untick the boxes and the design updates automatically.
  • Appearance: change the colour scheme under Block style, adjust spacing with the sliders, and add a divider.

Click Save to confirm your changes.

You can organise the footer navigation into columns with categories of pages:

  1. Click the footer navigation and choose List settings.
  2. Click the (+) icon to add a new category.
  3. Under Click action, choose No action and enter the category name in the Title field. Click Submit.
  4. Drag navigation links under the category with your mouse.
  5. When you’ve finished adding and sorting categories, click Submit to save.

Important: if your categories don’t form columns and appear scattered, your template may be outdated. Try deleting the footer and adding it again – your categories are kept.

If you change your site logo in the Header block, it’s automatically updated in the footer too, and vice versa.

  1. Click the logo to activate its control panel, then click the image icon.
  2. Find the new image on your computer and click Open.
  3. Click the logo and drag the resize handle to adjust its size.

Your logo updates across the whole site. Note: applying a new custom colour palette doesn’t change your logo’s colours.

To show your phone number, email and address, first enable this option in Block settings → Layout. To edit the phone number, click it and you’ll be taken to the Business info tab, where you can change it and other relevant details. The number is updated automatically everywhere it appears on your site.

Unlike the logo, the footer’s navigation menu isn’t linked to the header navigation – but customising it works in a similar way. Once you’ve enabled footer navigation in the Layout tab, click the footer navigation to open List settings. There you can:

  • Reorder navigation items by dragging and dropping them.
  • Open Item settings to change an item’s name and click action.
  • Remove an item from the navigation (without deleting the page) by clicking the bin icon next to it.

A copyright notice can help deter infringement. It contains three elements: the © symbol, the year of creation and the site name.

You can edit the site name in the copyright notice by clicking it and selecting the text – this doesn’t affect the site name in your header or footer. You can make it bold, italic or underlined, and add a link.

Note: the copyright notice can’t be removed. It acts as a visible reminder to visitors that the work and content on the site are the site owner’s intellectual property.

On a free plan, a branded footer is added to your site automatically. To remove it, you need to upgrade:

  1. Hover over the branded footer and click the Delete icon.
  2. You’ll be prompted to upgrade. Complete the upgrade steps, and the branded footer disappears.
  3. Click Publish to make the change visible online.
