Google Search Console helps you manage how Google indexes your website. With Loopia Sitebuilder you can verify your site and submit a sitemap to Google, step by step.
Step 1: Get the verification tag
Your site needs to be published first, since you’ll need its URL during verification. Once it’s published, copy your site’s URL and continue:
- Go to Google Search Console. If you don’t have a Google account, create one; otherwise log in.
- In the URL prefix field, enter your site’s address including the HTTPS part, and click Continue.
- The ownership verification window opens. Choose HTML tag as the verification method and click Copy.
Note: keep the Google Search Console window open – you’ll need to return to it in step 3.
Step 2: Add the tag to your site
- In Loopia Sitebuilder, click Main menu in the top-left corner.
- Click Settings in the sidebar.
- In Website settings, click the Integrations tab, then Connect next to Google Search Console.
- Paste the HTML tag you copied from Google Search Console into the code field and click Submit.
- Click Publish in Loopia Sitebuilder to apply the change.
Step 3: Verify your site in Google Search Console
Once you’ve added the code and republished, go back to Google Search Console and click Verify at the bottom of the page. If everything worked, you’ll see Ownership verified.
Submitting a sitemap to Google Search Console
When you publish your site, Loopia Sitebuilder automatically generates a sitemap in the background. Submitting it via Google Search Console gives Google more information about your site. Your sitemap’s address is your site’s URL followed by /sitemap.xml.
- Log in to Google Search Console.
- If you have several sites, make sure you’re viewing the right one.
- Click Sitemaps in the sidebar.
- Type sitemap.xml in the Add a new sitemap field and click Submit.
- You’ll see a confirmation that the sitemap has been submitted.
Once Google crawls your site, you can log in to Google Search Console to see data that helps you optimise your site for search engines.
