The AI Text Assistant lets you rewrite text elements on your site – headings, descriptions, block paragraphs – using your own instructions, helping you write faster and better. It solves the problem of not knowing what to write, or how to improve what you’ve already written.
Note: the AI Text Assistant is unlimited on Sitebuilder Large. On other packages you can try each AI feature five times before needing to upgrade for unlimited use.
Rewriting part of your text
Say you’ve just generated a homepage and want to adjust some text elements without regenerating the whole block:
- Select the part of the text you want to improve and click AI Writer in the control panel.
- Use one of the preset prompts (like “Improve the text”) or choose Custom and type your own prompt.
- Click the paper-plane icon (or press Enter) to generate the text.
- The result is your updated text with the prompt applied.
When you select specific text before writing a prompt, the AI only works with that selected text. If you click a text container without selecting anything, AI Writer instead generates entirely new content based on your business profile. This distinction gives you precise control over rewrites while still letting you generate fresh content when you want it.
Note: undo an action with Undo in the top bar or Ctrl+Z (Cmd+Z on Mac).
Using different prompts
The AI Text Assistant offers several preset prompts to simplify and improve your writing:
- Improve the text: makes your text clearer and easier to read without changing its original meaning.
- Rephrase: rewrites the text in different words, keeping the message but giving it a fresh feel.
- Fix grammar: corrects grammatical errors automatically without changing the meaning.
- Make longer: adds relevant information to expand and enrich shorter text.
- Make shorter: condenses text while keeping the important details.
- Translate to: translates your text into a chosen language, picked from a list of common languages or typed in directly.
- Change tone to: adapts the tone to a particular style or personality, including well-known figures or brands.
- Custom: write your own prompt for full control, covering tone adjustments or more detailed edits.
Tips for writing AI prompts
Be specific: give clear instructions about what you want.
- Good: “Adjust the product description to highlight the wide range of colours available”
- Poor: “Change it to make it better”
Give context: help the assistant understand the purpose and audience.
- Good: “Write a short description that highlights our brand values: honesty, quality and passion”
- Poor: “Can you write something about cars?”
Specify tone and style: state the tone (formal, casual) and style (informative, conversational) you want.
- Good: “Adjust the product description to a friendly, relaxed tone for a young audience”
- Good: “Make the language in our contact block more formal and professional”
- Poor: “Change the description to something else”
Give examples or references: offer examples to guide relevant content.
- Good: “Our product’s key features are […]. Expand on them in a product description”
- Poor: “Write it like something I saw online, but not exactly the same”
Keep instructions consistent: make sure your instructions don’t contradict each other.
- Good: “Make sure the tone is both professional and approachable”
- Poor: “Make it shorter but include more detail”
Note: the AI Text Assistant is designed to refine text. Prompts like “change the font” or “centre the text” won’t work, since those relate to design, not the text itself. For best results, focus on text-related instructions.
