Use the colour picker to change the colour of your text or customise your site’s colour palette. The colour picker has three sections: a colour area, a colour slider and a colour values block.
Choosing a colour in the colour area
Click a point in the colour area to change the current shade to the one under the cursor. To pick a completely different colour, first choose a colour group with the slider, then pick a shade by moving the cursor in the colour area (drag it or click a new spot).
Entering a colour with a HEX code
If you know the HEX code of the colour you want, enter it in the third section.
Tip: a HEX code specifies a colour using hexadecimal values, representing a combination of red, green and blue (RGB). It starts with a hash (#) followed by six hex values, for example #afd645. You can find colour codes at color-hex.com.
Clicking the RGB letters in the colour picker switches them to HSL (Hue, Saturation, Lightness) – an alternative representation of the RGB colour model. You can change the percentage values to adjust the colour.
Note: the value field fills in automatically when you use the colour picker to find a colour. Copy and paste the code to reuse the same colour elsewhere.
Entering a colour by name
To add an HTML colour, clear the HEX field and type the colour’s name (for example white, blue, yellow or red – any standard CSS colour name). The name is converted to a HEX value automatically.
