On a multilingual site in Loopia Sitebuilder you can translate the navigation so each language version has its own menu. This makes it easier for international visitors to move between pages in their own language.
Translating the navigation
- Choose the language version with the language switcher.
- Click Navigation in the top bar (or hover over the navigation area in the header and click the navigation settings icon) to open Navigation settings.
- You’ll see an exact copy of your original navigation, ready to translate. Hover over a menu item in the list and click its Settings icon.
- In Item settings, edit the Title and rename it in the new language.
- Click Submit.
- Repeat for the other menu items.
Remember to publish your site for the changes to show.
Making the navigation local
If you only have a few pages in another language and want the translated navigation to appear on just those pages, convert the navigation menu on those pages to a local element. Go to the page, click the navigation menu, click the More icon and choose Convert to local element. Any changes to the navigation then only show on that page, and you can revert it to a global element at any time.
Creating a local navigation item
If you’ve already created the page itself, add a new language-specific navigation item for it like this:
- Switch the language switcher to the target language.
- Click the navigation menu, then Navigation settings.
- Click the round (+) button to add a new language-specific page to the navigation.
- Choose Open a page as the click action and pick the target page from the list under the language.
- Type the title in the target language and click Submit.
Repeat for your other pages in that language, then publish your site.
