The Forms block contains a contact form – a simple, practical way for visitors to get in touch with you. Contact forms are fully automated: you just set your email address and create the form fields, and every submission from your published site is delivered automatically to your inbox. No third-party integrations are needed.
Setting the contact form’s recipient
For your form to work, you need to set the recipient email address – where submissions are sent.
- Click the form to open the Form settings window.
- On the Advanced tab, the email address you registered with is already in the Recipients field. You can remove it by clicking the X next to it, or add one or more email addresses by typing in the field.
- Click Create option in the dropdown to confirm each added address.
- You can also change the Success message visitors see after submitting the form here.
- Click Submit to confirm.
Adding a Forms block
- Choose where you want the block and click Add a block (+).
- In the Block library, select Forms to see the ready-made layouts.
- Click the layout you like to add it to your page.
Customising the block settings
Click the block, then the Block settings icon. The menu has two tabs: Layout and Appearance.
In the Layout tab you can switch layouts and choose which elements appear – remove the blue tick next to an element to hide it.
In the Appearance tab you can change:
- Block style: the block’s colour scheme.
- Block spacing: the white space (margins) above and below the block.
- Block height: toggle fullscreen on or off.
- Media content location: the position of the map (for layouts with a map).
- Form location: whether the form sits on the left or right.
- Media settings: add a black-and-white filter to the map.
Note: the controls available may vary depending on the layout. Click Save when done.
Customising the form’s fields
- Click the form to open Form settings.
- On the General tab, click the Settings icon for the field you want to edit.
- In Edit item, customise the Label (the text above the field) and Placeholder (the hint text inside the field).
- Tick Make required if the form shouldn’t be submittable without this field.
- Click Submit.
Adding a new field
Click the form to open Form settings, then click the round (+) button. In Add new item, choose a field type. Field types come in two categories:
Basic: Short text, Long text, Drop-list, Checkboxes, Radio buttons, and Date and Time (great for booking meetings or appointments).
Contacts (scroll down in the window): Name, Email, Phone, Address, Company, Position and Link.
Once you’ve chosen a type, add a Label and a Placeholder, optionally mark the field as required, and click Submit.
Reordering form fields
Grab the hamburger icon next to a field in the list and drag it up or down. The form fields adjust automatically.
Removing form fields
In Form settings, find the field you want to remove and click its Delete icon.
Note: the Email field can’t be removed, since the form doesn’t work without it – it’s where visitors enter their address so you can reply.
Creating a GDPR-compliant form
When you collect personal data such as names and email addresses from visitors, you must obtain their consent. Add a consent field by ticking Display GDPR consent field on the Advanced tab. You can fully customise the consent text by clicking the default text and typing or pasting your own wording, and you should add links to your terms pages.
Customising the form button
Click the button and type to change its text. To change the button’s colour, apply a new colour palette to your site.
Security
Your sites are protected by hCaptcha against mass registration of fake users and automated bots. Suspicious content in the form fields that looks like spam or a scam also triggers a notice in the email, just above the message itself.
