UNIX (FreeBSD) and Windows are two different operating systems we use on our customers’ web servers. What operating systems you have on your own computer has no relevance at all on your choice of operating system with us.
Both UNIX and Windows offer support for HTML and the most basic web features. The difference between these is:
- UNIX
- Provides support for CGI / Perl / Python and PHP with some extensions (for example image processing by GD).
- Windows
- Provides support for ASP, ASP.NET 3.5.
For an ordinary simple website, we recommend UNIX.
