Switch web hosting company

Here you will find information about what to consider if you wish to switch to Loopia and use us as your web hosting company.

In order to transfer everything, in the smoothest possible way, you should configure everything with us before pointing the domain to our name servers. If you do so in this way, you will prevent the website from becoming unavailable and that the e-mail stops working.

If you already have a hosting account with another provider, you need to check the notice period and conditions regarding cancelling your existing web hosting subscription. Note that you should wait to cancel your previous hosting account until everything has been transferred to us, or at least make sure that it is three weeks before the previous supplier shuts down your account.

If you do not have a hosting account with us, please start by ordering one.

If you have more than one domain name that you wish to transfer, you need to add the remaining domain names after you have received the login information for your hosting account. Login to our Customer zone and select "Domain and web -> Add domain/sub domain"

To get started and create an FTP account and upload your website, just select "Start a website, blog or online store" on the start page of our Customer zone. To create an e-mail address, just select "Create an e-mail address".

Note that it is very important that you upload your website and create your e-mail addresses in your account with us before we transfer the domain name from your current provider. If you do not do so, the website or e-mail may become unavailable.

Lastly, you need to redelegate the domain name to our name servers, which means that traffic from the Internet is directed to our servers instead. A redelegation normally takes about one day for the new DNS information to be spread around the Internet. In the meantime, e-mail can be sent to both your old supplier and to us. Therefore, no messages will be lost if the account at your previous service provider still is active during this time.
