How do I install and use e-mail
Here you find information about how to create e-mail addresses and how to read or send e-mail. Step 1 below will provide you with information about how to create a new e-mail address, and step 2, 3 and 4 will provide you with information about how to read or send e-mail.
Create an e-mail account
To be able to receive and send e-mail you need to ensure that the domain is set to "Home directory for web page" or "Alias to other domain in account", this setting can be changed under "Domain and web" > "Domain properties".
To then be able to create email accounts the email support for the domain name needs to be activated. This is done under "E-mail"> "E-mail settings for a selected domain". Choose the domain name and then "Loopia handles all e-mail" and click "Perform change".
After you have done this, you will need to create a new e-mail account. You create e-mail accounts in Loopia Customer zone and E-mail → My e-mail addresses. If you have several domain names, select the domain name you wish to use and then select New address</ strong>.
You can also select Forward incoming e-mail which means that all incoming e-mail will be forwarded to another recipient, while it saves a copy in the regular mailbox.
Once you have entered all of the appropriate settings, click Create Address
If you, in the future, need to set auto answer, forwarding, antivirus or anti-spam you will find these settings by clicking the tab Advanced.
If you wish to read your e-mails with an e-mail program you may use POP3, which is version 3 of the Post Office Protocol. POP3 is today the most common and most effective communication protocol used to retrieve e-mail to a local e-mail client.
When reading e-mails using POP3, the messages are downloaded from our server for permanent storage on your computer. This means that all e-mail will be deleted from the e-mail server as soon as it has been downloaded. The e-mails therefore become inaccessible from other computers that access the same mailbox.
POP3 requires login by the user, usually by entering the POP3 server name (mailcluster.loopia.se), username (your e-mail address) and your password.
If you wish to read your e-mails with an e-mail program you may use IMAP, which stands for Internet Message Access Protocol. IMAP is a protocol used to dynamically read e-mails and view e-mail folders stored on a central server. This means, unlike POP3, that you don´t download your e-mails for permanent storage on your computer, instead the e-mails are read directly from our server.
IMAP also requires login by the user, usually by entering the IMAP server name (mailcluster.loopia.se), username (your e-mail address) and your password. This allows you to dynamically read your e-mail and view your e-mail folders that are stored on our server.
